Missing Correction Found Dead
Sue Stimes
The mystery of the long missing Mayrose teen, Sue Stimes, has been solved. While gigging for bullfrogs down at Craneneck Slough, local youths, Enso Norder and Duane Paxton, stumbled upon the body of Miss Stimes. No word yet from Sheriff Cackley as to how the investigation is progressing.

In other news: The granddaughter of Pearleen and Oldfield Alcoker, sixteen-year-old Reatha Alcoker, has been missing since July 4th. She was last seen watching the fireworks at the Lacefield Mountain Lodge. Word on the street is that her best friend, Miss Sennie Lacefield

has teamed with the missing girl’s boyfriend, Milo Durham,

in the hopes of finding the girl and bringing her home.

When asked if there is any information they would like to share with our readers, Sennie said, “We haven’t ruled anyone out. At this point, everyone is a suspect.”

Milo agreed, “No matter how long it takes, we will find Reatha. Count on it.”

After talking to Mayrose’s finest youth detectives, I added ‘Every Breath You Take’ by The Police and Rockwell’s ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’ to my playlist.

Citizen Observations

Rex Cackley, son of Sheriff Cackley,

was seen speeding down River Road in his new truck by several concerned citizens. It is unclear as to why he has not been fined for reckless driving.

Nature Corner

Mayrose youth, Lonnie Devon, took a spectacular picture of a water moccasin that will be published in a national magazine. At press time, Lonnie could not be reached for comment.

Harland’s Corner

After many inquiries, Mayrose Weekly News is happy to report that Mayrose native, Eva Devon, has agreed to share her famous recipe for Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Pecans.

Anxiety ran its swift edge through her stomach without warning as she turned to gaze across the lake and into the surrounding dense forest.

Someone is watching me. I wish I could see through the trees. They could be anywhere.

She rubbed her hand down the length of her arm. There was no movement, except for the gentle swaying of the trees as the early dawn breeze rustled their needles and thick, green leaves. She turned forward, but the uneasy feeling didn’t pass. Someone was watching her. The chestnut brown hairs on the back of her neck, just under her long ponytail, prickled.

Evil is on the prowl, waiting for the right moment to pounce on me.

Bringing her knees to her chest, a ripple of fear dotted her spine, making her skin crawl. The first time she had experienced this feeling was in May, the week school had ended for summer break. The rumors about two girls who had gone missing stayed in the back of her mind. It wasn’t unusual for girls to run off from the small town of Mayrose, Arkansas. They would most likely be found in Little Rock, sad and miserable because city life hadn’t turned out the way they had thought it would. But so far, no one had been able to track down the two latest missing girls. That was unusual.

This week's mayrose weekly news has been brought to you by author toni morrow wyatt:

Late at night, the clicking of the typewriter often lulled her to sleep. Her mother would sit at a window in her bedroom typing out stories until sleep overcame her.
This was how she got Toni interested in writing. Her stories wove themselves in and out of her daughter’s dreams. When Toni would awaken, her mother would give her the story and ask her to add to it. They wrote many stories and even began to work on various novels, as Toni grew older.
Her mother not only shared her love of writing, she also shared her love of reading. Books, books, and more books. Toni can never get enough.
She spent many happy hours creating stories and songs. Throughout her school years, she concentrated her creative energy into singing for school plays, Master Choir, Keynotes (swing choir), and Great Expectations (a swing choir sponsored by a local park district).
But, she never forgot her love for weaving stories. After the death of her mother, Toni did not write for nearly three years. One day, she sat down at the computer and pulled up a file she had started working on in her late twenties. It was called, Return to Rocky Gap.
She finished that manuscript, found a publisher, and danced with joy the day she held it in her hands. It was bittersweet to know that she had done all of this alone, but she knew her mother was with her, encouraging her, and pushing her forward. Since then, she hasn’t stopped writing. She knows her mother is with her through every word, every paragraph, and every page along the way.
As a child, Toni’s family spent nearly every summer visiting relatives in a small, rural community in Arkansas. Finding magic in this place, it is the setting for many of her novels. Her love for southern fiction led to the writing of A Killing Among Friends, and also, Return to Rocky Gap. Her work has appeared in From the Depths Literary Journal and Belle Reve Literary Journal. She writes an eclectic blog titled, A Pinch of Me, on Tumblr. She was previously an independent bookseller, owning and operating Kindred Books for seven years.
Her love for reading takes her to places far and wide, which is something she will always strive to do for her readers.
She is happily married with two children.
